Cream puffs seem almost to complicated and impossible to make, but I'm here to tell you that they are really simple. There are a few steps involved, but all the components are easy to make and the finished product is so creamy, sweet, tangy, and delicious!
WHAT YOU NEED
- Cream Puff Recipe
- Pastry Cream Recipe
- Strawberry Sauce Recipe
- Pastry bags (or Ziploc bags)
Start off by making the Pastry Cream Recipe and the Strawberry Sauce Recipe. I like to make these a day or two in advance. It's a lot easier to do some things ahead of time so you don't have to make all of the components in one day. I like to make the cream puffs on the day that I will be serving them to keep them fresh.
After making the cream puff recipe, I like to lay out some saran wrap and pour the choux pastry onto the saran wrap and roll it up, cutting off one of the ends. I then place the wrapped choux pastry dough into a piping bag, the cut end goes in first, and then pipe the cream puffs. By doing this, the choux pastry dough does not get everywhere and clean up is a breeze.
Once all your components are completed, you can assemble the cream puffs. Start off by cutting the tops off of the cream puffs. Fill a pastry bag with pastry cream and another pastry bag with the strawberry sauce. Pipe a dollop of pastry cream inside the cream puff. Add another dollop of strawberry sauce on top of the pastry cream. Add the top of the cream puff back on. Fill the rest of your cream puffs in this manner. Finish it off with a sprinkling of powdered sugar.
How easy was that?
As always, keep it creative and I'll see you in my next video!
